Welcome to Detroit Skating Club!
Our classes are designed to keep skaters enthusiastic about learning the fundamentals of figure skating from the time they begin lessons until the time they reach their goals. We offer a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner as well as the more advanced skater, teaching correct technique of the basic elements of skating while developing coordination and balance. Testimonials here.
“We create an atmosphere of fun with games, toys and music;
all tools that will teach your child the basic skills of skating.”

About Our Program
Classes are $16 per class, which will include 10 minutes of stroking and warm-up, 25 minutes of instructed class time and 25 minutes of supervised free time (which may consist of games, bubbles, mazes, etc.) and a badge once the skater has completed the level. We will include occasional 3-minute exhibitions of DSC skaters higher than the Learn to Skate level to expose skaters to the various disciplines of skating.
Skates should fit, please don’t leave growing room. Wear thin socks and skates with good ankle support. Skates should only have ONE blade. Skaters should wear comfortable clothing. Gloves or mittens are a MUST. We recommend that skaters under the age of 7 wear a hockey helmet or a round bike helmet. Purchasing or renting skates can be done at Jones Custom Skate Shop located in DSC.
Phone (248) 335-8790.
All skaters at The Detroit Skating Club are required to be members of the United States Figure Skating Association, (the “USFSA”). These fees are included in your Detroit Skating Club memberships as described below. If you are changing from another USFSA Club, please do so before or at the time of registration. We will assist you in the office. Representing The Detroit Skating Club is not mandatory for your membership. You may join several clubs, but only one may be designated as your Home Club.
Detroit Skating Club offers an ongoing registration – just as long as there is room in the class the child can start – for Learn to Skate classes during our Fall and Summer sessions. Our Fall session runs from the beginning of September to the end of May, and the Summer session runs from the third week of June until the end of August. To see a schedule of classes click here.
