Meghan Koivunen graduated Cum Laude from Oakland University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. While at OU, she danced with Oakland Dance Theatre and OU Repertory Dance Company. Ms. Koivunen was the recipient of the Maggie Allesse Distinguished Dance Student Award, and her choreography has been showcased in the Young Choreographer’s forum. She danced professionally with Rustic Groove for several years performing works by Matt Farmer and Kristen Berger. She has also been a guest performer with the Port Huron Nutcracker Ballet and with Eisenhower Dance Ensemble in “Motown in Motion.” Ms. Koivunen has taught a variety of styles of dance for many years. Wanting to have a deeper impact in the dance community with regard to injury prevention and the utilization of dance as an intervention for children with special needs, she pursued her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan. She now works full time as a physical therapist with experience in pediatrics and orthopedics.
