The Wolverine Sports Club (WSC) has a long history of developing world class athletes in speedskating, cycling and Nordic skiing. The speedskaters have a home at the Detroit Skating Club where they conduct disciplined skating sessions. Experienced coaches
provide motivation and carefully planned training programs both on and off ice that help athletes to participate competitively and race successfully at local, national and world events.
Known as The Club of Champions, the WSC offers juniors to masters a program that has produced countless state, national, world, and Olympic Champions since 1888. Historically, the most famous Wolverine speedskater is Sheila Young who captured multiple Olympic medals including gold in the 500-meter race and three World Sprint titles in the 1970’s.
