How old were you when you started skating?
4.
What do you love most about skating?
I can’t put into words just how much I enjoy performing for people; I’m really about expressing myself for the world to see.
What is a challenge you have with skating?
I believe my biggest challenges in skating are flexibility and consistency. I find myself really fighting to get my leg up on a camel and struggling with consistency issues with some of my jumps.
Who inspires you and why?
Daisuke Takahashi, such a charismatic and equally talented skater—there’s really no one quite like him. I rewatch his programs all the time and every single one of them leaves me awestruck!!
Favorite skating element
Flip!!
Favorite Book
No Longer Human - Osamu Dazai
Favorite Holiday
Christmas
Do you have a ritual or routine you do before or after you compete? If so, what is it?
I usually listen to fun music before I skate to boost morale. But other than that and ensuring a decent warmup beforehand, I enjoy being left alone as I’m usually not too interested in chatting when the competition rolls in.
Favorite Season
Fall, I love the vibrant leaves and cool air.
What advice would you give a younger skater that has dreams of skating and competing like you are?
Learn to enjoy skating!! While it may be hard to be happy on the ice if practice goes wrong, reflect on your skate and find some good in the sea of bad!! Did you fall a lot? Well, at least you didn’t fall super hard! Did you fall super hard as well? Well, at least you didn’t die! And if you died? Well, I don’t have much to say to you then!
